OHIO POET, BARBARA MARIE MINNEY, TO FACILITATE LGBTQ+ WRITING WORKSHOP

Sheila-Na-Gig online is proud to present a 3-week LGBTQ+ themed Writing Workshop with Ohio poet Barbara Marie Minney.

Sheila-Na-Gig online Presents an LGBTQ+ Writing Workshop with Barbara Marie Minney

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This workshop is designed for LGBTQ+ writers of all levels. The goal of this workshop is to explore common themes that help us develop our community by using free writing (or stream of consciousness writing as it is sometimes called) based on guided prompts provided during each session. This will be a safe and affirming space and will be a no critique/no criticism workshop. Participants will be invited to share their work with the group. The purpose of the workshop is to give participants additional tools to stash in their writer’s toolbox and to encourage and support participants no matter where they are on their writing journey. It is the goal of the workshop to help LGBTQ+ individuals to develop their writing skills and encourage them to pick up their pens to write about their unique experiences.

A SAFE SPACE TO WRITE AND SHARE IDEAS: This will be a safe space for writing and sharing ideas. Writing is about taking risks, going outside our comfort zone, escaping boundaries, and letting out the words that need releasing. This space will be free of fear, bullying and harassment of any kind. We will treat one another with kindness and respect at all times. We will work together and separately to honor our differences and celebrate the gifts that each of us brings to the table.

The workshop will take place on Zoom and is limited to 10 participants.

WORKSHOP DATES: April 18 and 25 and May 2 at 7:00 PM (EST)

COST: $25.00 (this covers entrance into all three workshop dates)

SIGN-UP: To sign up for this workshop, pay the $25 enrollment fee by April 4, 2023. You will receive a ZOOM link from the event coordinator approximately 24 hours after your payment is received.
